A woman’s life is dry like a desert, until she discovers her sexuality.
Priscilla (Parker Posey) is a high-powered marketing executive whose life feels dull and unfulfilled, like a deflated balloon. She has never experienced an orgasm and this has caused problems in her marriage to Jack (Paul Rudd).
Jack, on the other hand, is a high school science teacher who moonlights as a swimming pool salesman. He’s always been supportive of Priscilla’s career, but he can’t help feeling rejected when he can’t satisfy her sexually.
Priscilla seeks advice from a sex therapist (Liza Minnelli) who tells her to explore her own body. She takes up with Wayne (Danny DeVito), a hardware store clerk who shares his love of sex toys and helps her find the “Oh” in Ohio.
As Priscilla’s passion starts to blossom, Jack’s feelings of inadequacy become more acute. Will they find their way back to each other or will their differences drive them apart?
The movie is a light-hearted exploration of female sexuality and relationships, but also delves into deeper themes of self-discovery and personal fulfillment.

Review
Have you ever felt like something is missing in your life? Like you have everything you thought you wanted, but it still doesn’t feel quite right? That’s the central theme of the 2006 indie film “The Oh in Ohio”.
Directed by Billy Kent and written by Adam Wierzbianski, “The Oh in Ohio” follows Priscilla (Parker Posey), a successful marketing executive who seems to have it all – except one thing. She’s never had an orgasm. Despite her husband Jack’s (Paul Rudd) best efforts, she can’t seem to find sexual fulfillment with him. After a particularly embarrassing incident at a sex toy shop, Priscilla decides to take matters into her own hands and explore her sexuality on her own.
Along the way, we meet a cast of quirky characters – including Danny DeVito as Wayne the pool guy and Mischa Barton as Kristen, a 19-year-old college student who becomes involved with Jack. The film also features Liza Minnelli in a hilarious cameo as a sex shop owner.
One of the standout performances in “The Oh in Ohio” comes from Parker Posey. Known for her work in indie films like “Party Girl” and “Broken English”, Posey brings complexity and depth to the character of Priscilla. She navigates the character’s journey from uptight career woman to free-spirited sexual explorer with nuance and humor.
Paul Rudd also shines as Jack, Priscilla’s well-meaning but clueless husband. His chemistry with Posey is palpable, making their struggles to connect sexually all the more poignant.
Despite its subject matter, “The Oh in Ohio” manages to be both funny and heartfelt. It explores themes of identity, self-discovery, and communication within relationships without ever feeling preachy or heavy-handed.
While it may not have been widely seen upon its initial release, “The Oh in Ohio” has become something of a cult classic in the years since. Its frank discussions of female sexuality and willingness to explore taboo topics make it a refreshing addition to the rom-com genre.
If you’re looking for a film that’s equal parts funny, sexy, and poignant, “The Oh in Ohio” is worth checking out. It’s a delightful reminder that sometimes the things we think we want aren’t actually what we need. As Priscilla says towards the end of the film: “I don’t want to be someone who just gets by. I want to feel every little sensation.” And isn’t that what life is all about?
