Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is an adventure-comedy movie that has been the talk of the town since its release in 2014. The directorial helm of Shawn Levy, along with a star-studded cast, has made this movie a must-watch for people of all ages. The plot involves Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), a security guard at New York City’s Museum of Natural History, embarking on a journey to London’s British Museum with his old buddies from the museum to unravel the secret behind its magical display.
The storyline is captivating and filled with excitement. It keeps you glued to your seat from start to finish, and there is never a dull moment in this movie. The movie starts off with Larry discovering something wrong going on with the tablet which brought all his friends to life in earlier versions of ‘The Night At The Museum’. He then takes it upon himself to figure out what’s going wrong by travelling all the way to London.
The characters in this movie are well-developed, and each actor plays their role perfectly. Ben Stiller as Larry Daley has his moments where he shines and makes us laugh with his quips and humorous antics, but he also has some emotional moments which make us feel for him.
One of my favourite characters from the movie is Sir Lancelot (played by Dan Stevens). His portrayal as a graceful knight who is confused about what decade he belongs in was simply marvellous. He was hilarious to watch every time he made an appearance on screen.
Another great aspect about this movie is that it teaches us something about history as well. You get to see historical figures come back to life like Sacajawea (Mizuo Peck), Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams), and many others who make appearances throughout the film.
The score for this movie was also exceptional, especially during some of the more intense scenes where Larry & Co. were trying to outwit their enemies. The music added to the excitement and made some of the scenes even more memorable.
The cast of actors in this movie was simply phenomenal, with some veteran actors like Robin Williams, who unfortunately passed away in 2014, reprising their roles from previous films. Dan Stevens also shone in his role as Sir Lancelot and was a perfect fit for the role. Other notable actors include Owen Wilson (Jedediah), Steve Coogan (Octavius), and Ricky Gervais (Dr McPhee) make appearances and give splendid performances.
The special effects in this movie should also not be overlooked. The way the British Museum’s exhibits come to life is done remarkably well, and it feels like everything is happening for real.
As far as awards go, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb was nominated for one award at the 2015 Visual Effects Society Awards for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Photoreal/Live Action Feature Motion Picture. However, it did not end up winning that award.
Overall, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is an exceptional film which offers a perfect blend of adventure and comedy. It has something for everyone, regardless of age or taste in movies. The story is engaging, acting superb, soundtrack fantastic and special effects brilliant – making it one of my favourite comedies of all time.
Furthermore, if you’re looking to watch a family-oriented movie that will keep everyone entertained without resorting to cheap humour or violence then I would highly recommend giving this movie a go. It’s fun-filled while being educational at the same time and all-round great entertainment.
In conclusion, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb should not be missed by anyone who enjoys a good laugh coupled with an exciting storyline! So put on your adventurous hat and step into this magical world created by Shawn Levy which will leave you wanting more.
